Director Subarna Thapa, from the Soongava: A Dance of the Orchids fame—which was Nepal’s submission for the 86th Oscar Awards under the Best Foreign Film category—is set to release his second directorial, Fanko. Fanko is scheduled to hit theatres across the country from January 15, the production team said on Tuesday. The production team has also released the trailer and a new song on YouTube. The film is written and directed by Subarna Thapa and is produced jointly by Narandra Maharjan, Sahadev Gautam, and Padam Gurung. Fanko, a sociopolitical drama, features Saugat Malla and Keki Adhikari in the lead roles. The film premiered on November 23 in Belgium. The film has been produced under the banner of Hetauda Moviemaker Team (HTM).
Choreographed by Kaviraj Gahatraj and edited by Bipin Malla, the film is photographed by Hari Lama Ghale and Sanjay Lama. Along with Malla and Adhikari, the film also features actors Dayahang Rai, Anup Baral, Priyanka Karki, and Keshav Bhattarai, among others.
The film was shot mostly around Pokhara and Damauli.
